Hi everybody,

i'm owning now a asus p750 and i use it with tomtom 7.45. so far no problem, but everytime i start tomtom it takes up to 7-15minutes until my phone finds an position. is that normal? i mean, i usually update my GPS data with the GPS-Catcher. On Destinator its all the same.
Doesn't the P750 have a A-GPS which uses the mobile phone base stations' position for quick calculating of position?

these 15mins to position i know only from my old navigation system, also with a Sirf 3 chipset after switching it totally of (power down). if i put it only in standby it has a position at least after 1 min.

so, what does these GPS-Catcher do, and do i really need it? any solutions for the calculating?

thank you!

Hi
As far as I know, GPS Catcher updates the current satelites positions,
it helps the GPS to get coordinates faster...
But I am not quite sure if it helps all the time... (today my GPS gave coordinate ater 10 minutes...)

i use gps catcher frequently, but still no faster position.

it looks like a complete power off after shut down of any gps-software. it's always a so called "cold start". normally it saves its last position and uses it to get a new one. because if you don't move more than 300km your last position is very helpful for fast aquirring.

Well, the website where gpscatcher updates the satelites positions is not updated.

Use this cab, and run gpscatcher again, then turn on your gps.

Should be able to log on within a minute.

Basically, my cab file above is to correct the place where the gpscatcher download the satelites data.

Maybe you can try these 2 files, see which one can help you get gps fix faster. Both of them also works the same way as gpscatcher.

Lengedas,
If you are still around in the forum - THANK YOU VERY MUCH !!
I have downloaded you modified GPS Catcher files and the updates are now quick.
Earlier, My ASUS P-750's GPS catcher was displaying "not able to connect---" and manual updates were not working either.
- Thanks, once again, its good, helpful people like you who add to the synergy of this forum and to the strength of the Internet!
Cheers Drinks or Beer
